MASTERTON. Tho, monthly; meeting of the Tnistoes of the Masterton. - Hospital was held yesterday morning. There were present: Messrs. J. 8., Iveith .(chairman), \Y. Fisher J. Murray-Jackson, C.. C Jackson, J. C. Ewington, and R.; Brown. The treasurer reported as follows:—Masterton Hospital, balance on January 19, receipts, J553G 13s. lOd.; expendihire, iCloo 2s. lid., balance at date, «£571 15s.'7d; Infectious. Diseases Hospital," receipts, «£lO 55.; expenditure, 75.; balance at date, *£86 4s. 9d. Accounts amounting to 10s. lOd. were passed; for payment. It was decided that the temporary appointment of Dr. Archer Hosking as . medical superintendent be made permanent, subjectl to three months' notice on either side. The matter of the water supplr to the hospital "was discussed,, but decision was. deferred until next meeting,, pending a report as to the cost.. A committee, consisting of Messrs. E. Brown,' J. C. Ewington, and Murray-Jackson,'and the chairman, was appointed to'draw ,"up estimates for the coming year. The matron reported as follows Patients 'in .the hospital at last meeting, 16; admitted during the month, 2s; discharged, 23; in at present, IG. Mr. Jas. Miller was appointed visiting trustee for the month. A movement is on foot to start jx Chess Club in Masterton, and' a meeting for the purpose will be held on Priday evening next. ; . A splendid seam 01, clay having been opened. up at Mauriceville, ,it was decided to send samples to .Wellington for analysis. A very favourable Report lias been received, and it has been decided to form a company in. Masterton for ,the manufacture of roofing:'tiles, and also salt glaze -ware. A • provisional directorate has been formed. . .
