Splendid shooting was made by members of tho lyttclton detachment of R.N.Z.A., u;ho, at tho conclusion of their ten days' camp,carried;.'oat., their, annual. .classfiring at' Fort Jervois! on-. Thursday -last. Two, tho 6-inch '■'•8.1/.-' guns,, were remarkable.for accuracy and rapidity of shooting. .Tho'.firing'.was done undor.:tho superintendence' of/Lieutenant Sandlej and the results aro stated to-have established a .record for New. Zealand for the class of guns. . In '.the first series, six shots were fired from the 6-ineh gun andfivo hits lyere - scored,. the average, time per round being 42sec. Tho standard timo per round is 55sec., so. that it will bo seen that, the; shooting.was done .in. jxcoptionally fast -time. ' The results i of. the second scries wero-even better.. Six shots were : fired and all, registered hits, I while tho average time, registered was.only 37sec., which is a record for tho-Dominion. v N.Z.Ai CONFERENCE REMITS.
