FINING OF A TOBACCONIST. •" Christchurch, February 11. A tobacconist named T. H. James was before the Court to-day on "a charge of having sold alcohol .without- a license. The case had curious features. i
1 James claims to understand, the'cure of various ailments and sold medicine; as" a side line. The polico had somo of the medicine analysed, and found it contained, up to 77 per cent, of alcohol, being chiefly, gin, .with vegetable inpedients , added;. The police, searched the premises; and found thirteen bottles of gin and 20 empty bottles in the yard. : ; . The ■ evidence ' suggested that .James's Eatients were chiefly sufferers', from- bad !gs.
