' The subeomniittee appoints to draft a nrogramnie for. the' Baste Monday gathering, submitted their ''report,: tho programme being very , similar to last year's sohedtile, but threo amateur events aro added., Mr. F. -S. M'.'Rae ; again -very generously donated tho! money neq£ssary for the girls' and small boys' raoei; Hiv D. Buick, M.P.;,presents a. trophy valued at JO3 3s. for.one of tho amateur events, Mr. K; Burns, i. tho prizo for the maiden pipe music, while inedalii for other events are beiiig ■ donated by Messrs. Geo. M'Dohald, H. D. Buoh&nan, J. B. Gerrand. H. L. Young, R. Lloyd, W- Turner, and J. Russell. A siWet flap will be given for most points in-the Caledonian Handicap (threo distances). : A party arranged by Mr. H. C. Phillips visited tho hospital last evening, and' rendered a musical programme, Which was greatly appreciated by the patients and staff. ; A violin solo was given, by Miss llunro, pianoforte solo by Miss Butt, aiid songs by Miis Fox-ana Messrs. J. Rodgers, J. Mtirris, and-H, C. Phillips. Mrs. Hawson 1 played tho accompaniments. Tho viintors' were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A cricket match was recently played between fho Campbell Street and Collego Street School Committees, and the ohairman of the latter Echool .committoe donated a prize for the best essay on the game written by a';Scholat of'the' School. This was. won bv Master Verne Jewell, a fon Of, Mr Wr Jewell, of this town. .. !
