PACIFIC BOARD LEASES LAND LINE IN CANADA. STATE-OWNED ATLANTIC CABLE. (Bee. February 4, 1.10 a.m.) Bjr Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, Melbourne, February 8. Advices have been received that the Pacifio Cable Board/ have secured the control, from the Canadian Pacifio Bailway Company, of the telegraph lino from Montreal to Bamficld! The negotiations which have" brought about this result wore necessitated by frequent failures of the Canadian land lines. Tbe' board' have secured ■ a lease of line for five years at an 1 annual rental of .£55,000. . .Negotiations for a State-owned cable across the Atlantic are not yot completed, but beforo long, it is anticipated, • this will be accomplished, 'completing.. a State-controlled through /line 'from Queensland to London.
