(Br Alekt,) , •.; Eopresentatiyes from" nearly ail' : the patrols of the Wellington Boy Scouts spent- a most enjoyable and useful day on Somes Island on Saturday under perfect. weather conditions./ -Leaving ™ .the ferry, jetty at a : fow "minutes past nine in the good ship Admiral the scouts'had a pleasant trip to tho island wharf, which was/.reached...about,-10 .o'clock. - ; Upon landing theVpatrbls"were: lined up and marched to-the top of one of the highest points of'the island, from: which, a magnificent view-, of - Petone and tho Hutt Valley' was obtained. - Here tho Union Jack was hoisted, and at lC.3o:was unfurled; in the light southerly: breeze and saluted by the .76' scouts ■ and 4 scoutmasters. A verso of the National Aiitliein was sungZ'whilb' saluting the flag,, after which a couple of photographs were taken. Tho boys then divided into two parties. --Those/under • Scoutmasters Law- ; 'son and M'Donald went down to a very good bathing placo and /were, soon enjoy-, ing i ;dip ip.the briny; the' others-^under Scoutsmasters Munro and -Perry:; 'vieited/ the lighthouse, and through the kindness of tho keeper- tho boys were shown. ■ over this interesting-building;' /: The boys/were, theq reassembled, 'and lunch,' to;'which one/and -all did full .justice,: was partaken 'of./ v/The:- afternoon .was spent iii performing •various.scouting / .Two boys 'were sent/out dispatch and both succeeded in getting through - the enemy's lines,'although on'o of, them: had a very clbsb -"go," '■ and nearly /got l cap-:' tured; / Soino t?rv - pood signalling / was (lone,;and se'verdl interesting /'messages were .'sent between'the different stations. After m early, tea tho trip home was made in tho.sis.
