Four' divers are plugging the seams,' and' o collisioh-inat •is being made for the large hole. , "•The pumping test yesterday showed that the rent must: be more effectively, stopped before the pumps can cope with tho water. Pumping by the Terawhiti. will probably start to-morrow. It was rumoured to-day that a rock had been discovered a hundred; yards astern 'of . where - the Kaipara now 'lies, but inquiries made to-night failed to substantiate tho statement.. To-morrow morning two steam • launches, will -drag tho channel near the Kaipara.
