Military demonstrations have taken place in 'Spain against the promotion of officers who served in the recent Melilla campaign against the Riffs in Morocco. Tho officers concerned in the demonstration maintain that promotion should be based oil'the system of seniority. The Ciiptain-General of Madrid and | sevoral other high officials have bcon dismissed. Many officers have been placed under arrest ponding a court-mattial.
