The receipts and expenditure of tho municipal baths from the date..of opening, October' 22,, 1903, to December . 31 last, show that tho receipts exceeded the highest, anticipations,, and-.' it .is . practically certain there will ?be a. surplus at tho end of tho first year's working. It must jbe admitted, of course, that, these - returns cover ..the warm months only,-bat it is pointed .out that the next two months ,are . the best swimming months ;of ,the. year, and; despite . ■ the modest receipts .'expected- . during . the Winter • months, the .venture.: is clearly on a sound commercial footing. The i total < receipts' : . for 'the . period mentioned, ; including the amount received' for .tow.els, costumes, - hot.'-and' salt water baths, sports meetings, . etci were: -v£3l4 16s. '3d., 'which works , out at. an average of 1 .'.£4 7s. 3d; per day, including Sundays.
