He had; . inspected the fire escapes at tho lodging -houses, in the town, and as his ■ suggestions had ; been : carried : oiit, he could now report the escapes as being satisfactory. He had also, inspected the back-yards of business, premises, and had had occasion to caution somo of the occupants with ; reference to the accumulations of inflammable litter; He proposed to institute proceedings. against any offenders in this respect in: the future.
