ROTORUA ATTRACTIONS.
A BUSY SEASON. • Mr. C. E. 'C. Eobieson, , Director - of the Tourist Division, • who has: just. returned from the Hot Lakes district, ;. told ■ a Dominion* reporter yesterday...-that:-: the tourist traffic at Rotorua at the present time was greater than ever before. He based ' this , opinion,, upon the bath re-ceipts.:-Up .to Christmas the-season.had not been •so busy- as last yoar,' but it had since.more than, recovered... ..Additional:, accommddation;,for; 300 persons had been provided this season by the. boardinghoii9e" proprietors.;Tho .trout fishing was very much improved,- and- some cellent';'catches had been obtained. - Certain; complaints made by, a ;correspondent' of. tlio "New , Zealand Herild" having been reprinted locally, Mr. Bobieson gave them a flat ; denial. The Itotjirua gardens (he said) were as well .kept, as .ever, . though less money than- before ; was beingVspentoh, extending them.. The buildings were -'not;, "dirty for-' the. want of .paint,'' though: the f- peculiar; atmospheric conditions of the thormal district acted on the '.paint, so as; to make repainting:necessary at much'.shorter inbrvals; than was the case via other localities. ; The lawns'- were well kept, and altogether he considered that Ro--torua .ivas : just as, pleasant and attractive a place as ever.
