At a recent mooting tho National Directory of tho United Irish League resolvod to most heartily advise members of the League in Butain to use the lush vote in support of tho Liberal and tho Labour parties. Tins was after Mr, Asquith had given an "assurance" about the Liberal party's attitude to Home Rule; interpretations of tho "assuranco and opinions as to its exact viluo dtffor widely, but the rowlntions oi tho National Direotoiy interprets it as claiming a mandato for tho Liberal party to deal witi the self-government of Ireland as soon as the House of Lords' veto is cleaied out of the way. The difficulty ib that it sometimes happens that the Liberal candidate owing to the Liberal education policy, is repugnant to the Roman Catholic Bishops in England, who place their schools first, while he is accepted by tho United Irish Leaguers who hope to gain f m the Liberals Home Rule for Ireland In September laft the Most Rev. Dr. F Bourne, Romui Catholic Archbishop of Westminster, Hpeakmg at a meeting of tho Catholib Truth Society, warned tho United Irish Lcumiothat the Bishops did not intend to allow the schools m England to be made counters' in the game of political bargains. Tho samo attitude of thn English Roman Catholic Bishops was manifest in the following cablegram published yesterday : "The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Westminster, Dr. Bourno,' and the Bishops of Westminster province in 'a pastoral, declare that it is the duty of Roman Catholics to support only candidatcs who will secure just troatmont for Roman,Cntholio schools." This , formula evidently excludes the Liberals, so the Irish voter in England will havo to choose between the advice of the League and the instruction of the Bishops. ____________
