Tho area .of German South-West Africa is •greater than that of Capo Colony much' the larger of our' South' African dominions. The coast region is a desert extending inland for 90 or 100 miles, in tho south,, and .gradually tapering out towards the north. Then comes a strip of high, veldt, which, in good seasons, is one of the best countries in South Africa. This year, from; Warmbad in the south to Windhoek in thd liorth was one vast meadow, ttith grass from two to three feet high, and it also contained excellent water supplies. It is a magnificent, cattle country, and in this respect :■ more nearly . approaches ; Rhodesia than any Vi other South African colony. ' ' .
