1 . niFOETANT CHANGES FORESHADOWED. It is .understood that somo important changes will be made in the personnel of the staff of the Polioe Department as tho outcome of tho recent commission presided over by Mr. H. W. Bishop, S.M. The commissioner's report, which embodied several recommendations of a drastio nature, has been regarded as providing matter for a very lively dobato, but the Prime Minister indicated on Thursday last that he would s make a utotomont in jegard to the police , force - before the end of tho session, and expressed tho hope that no discussion would be necessary. , This wja taken to indicate that certain changes _ in respect to important officials wore ponding These changes will probably- mean that Mr . Walter Dinnio, at present Commissioner of Police, will bo offered the position cf Inspector pf Prisons, reoently vacated by Colonel Hume (retired), and that Mr. F. 'Walde / grave, Undersecretary for Justice will be appointed Commissioner or Acting-Commissioner of Police. Other changes mooted uftVct the head office staff. It is also 1 on the QWds that Inspector J. Vf. Ellison," in. chargo at Wellington, will be transferred to Auckland, and Inspector John Cullen, at that oity, will come to Wellington.
