■ MINING NOTES.. . Keliance.—ln the crosscut two small stringers were passed through, which carried nice bright minerals. The country is .much milder than-.it was.. ■■ Halcyon.—Tho last few feet in the tuimel, the break turned cast on tho left. A few splendid 'seams of mineral are showing. Occidental Consolidated.—Tho leader has pinched to l.inch, and is of poor description. As the country is good, the manager hopes for an improvement. . : Scotia—The winzo has been sunk 4 feet for the week on a nice compact body of ore.. The contractors have carted between 60 and 70 tons to the battery.. . Tahgiaro—The Crown leader west - from tho bottom level- on the Golden Shore, reef will : average about 6 inches in thickness, but rather disturbed. The crosscut south to intersect the Golden Shore reef-, on tho Coromandel side of the range is now in 20 feet. The country is first class; bunches of quartz have already been met with. ... ... .. Kuranul—The Blyth low level has been driven 100 feet, at which point tho hangingwall branch of what is known as the shaft leader was intersected. As this leader looked promising, it was decided to open out and drive on it in a v/esterly direction. This has now been driven on 11 feet, and so far looks promising. The leader Bhows an: average thickness of about 10 inches, and is carrying good mineral, intermixed with blende and stratamata, while good dabs of coarse, cold have been seen through tile quartz broken for the whole distance. . Ngatio-wa.—The ore from the second stope (No. 1 level east) .shows further improvement ' in -values. The aerial tram is completed. Crushing is to be commenced as soon as the dam to .retain the tailings is finished. In tho Sunbeam top level the reef has been stripped for 12 feet, and broken down for 6 feet. The reef is' now 2 feet wide, and. looks well. Stoping has been temporarily discontinued. May Queen Extended.—Tho crosscut is being pushed, ahead with all possible speed. -The country in the face at present ,iB hard blue country rock, which,-being jointy; shoots well, though it is very hard to:bore. Fair progress is being mode.' and the manager now thinks there will be no; great extent of the hard rock. _ Waitangi Consolidated.—Tlio western drive is in 38 feet from, the rise. ;The hangingwail carries good mineral indications, but' has . j'ot shewn free. gold for the last few feet. ; Tho reef is 7 feet in width. Tho main reef at &o. 2 lovel has been broken down for 18 Inches in width. This is flinty and of low value. Five foot east of the break ;the reef looks very woll. .The manager thinks tho main ' portion has been thrown to tho right, and will therefore crosscut to prove its'width and value. ; New. Sylvia—No. 2 rise in north end of low level is up. 57 feet, and' the reef is Bho-,v,ng nighor and - moro regular assay values. The width of oro taken out is 6 feet, and length 12 feet; which produces fully four ton's to,tho foot risen, all; good parable ore. The drive north on tho faco of-the reef at ..tho low lovel Is producing oro showing a decided : improvement in appearance and values. - Glamorgan.—ln tho new low level tho jouuirv Is much firmer, being composed of a fine-grained andesite, containing a large percentage of iron pyrites. Should that class of \ country abut on the reef at tho point of intersection, developments of a pleasing' nature may be looked for.
