From yesterday the regular service via the LyaU Bay:tramway extension on weeks days is to "he as under:—From Lyail Bay—7.s am' and every .20 minutes until 7.25 p.m.; 7.25 p.m.! and-every 10 minutes until 10.45 ii.in. The 7.5 ajn. and 5.5.p.m cars will he run as-workers'" cars. Depart Lambton Station—6.s6 a.m., and ovefy 20 minutes until 6,56 p.m.; 6.56 p.m., and every; 40 minutes until 10.16 -pan;" The 7.6 a.in. and 5.15 p,ni. cars will be run as workers' cars. ■On Sundays cars will leave the Bay at 1.25 p-m.;'. and every 20 minutes until .8.5 p.m., and 8.5 p.m.,- and every 40 minutes to 9.25 p.m. rCars; will leave Lambton. Station at 1.16 p.m., land every 20 minutes until 7.36, thence on .every 40 minutes until 9.46 p.m. On fine Sunday mornings specials will leave Lambton Station at 9.15 a.m., '9.25 ajn., and 9.40 a.m., and will leave the Bay for Newtown at 9.45 9.55 ajn;, and 10J0 a.m. The fares on 'theso special cars will be 6d. for adults and 3d; for children. :■■ As the result of a visit to Berlin- as one of the New Zealand delegates to the Dental Conference,, Mr. C. W. Hay/was piofoundly impressed with the fine physique of the Germans as a whole, their ■ well-developed figures, and smart bearing (says tho "Otago Daily Times"). In the large manufacturing towns 'in Great Britain the contrast was most marked, and forced the observer to the conclusion that a national system of compulsory military training was not without its compensating advantages in physical development. Having been forced to this conclusion, Mr. Hay was naturally'pleased to find on his return that the Dominion had,. during his abseuco, been.committed to a modified form of compulsory military training.
