HALLEY'S COMET.
FLUCTUATIONS IN ITS BRIGHTNESS. (Hy Telegraph -Pres3 Association -Oopyrlcht) (Keo. December 15, 10 p.m) London, December 15. Halley's comet is exhibiting notable fluctuations. Its brightness was of the tenth magnitude in No\ ember, and a fortnight later of the twelfth magnitude IB; Tclccraph —Proaa Auoclntloe I i ' Auckland, December 15. Mr. H. J. Lvans, a local observer, reports that he located Halley's comet' at 11 o'clock las'- night by means of a telescopo with a 3mch object glass. Tho \isilor v>as then right ascension 3h 30m , and declension llh. 40m., being thus on the northern horizon between Taurus an;d Aries. The comet was moving rapidly towards Aries
