Mrs. Annie- Lonnard, of -Wanganui,■'. with her son, is leaving for the Dominion by the new Orient liner Orvieto on November 26. ■ Mr. Sinclair Thompson, of Dunedin, is leaving London shortly., H« expects to be back in New Zealand, about the end of February. Mr. Millar, inn., son of , the Hon. J. A. Millar, is-at present working in London in the mechanical department of the Metropolitan Railway, to gain engineering experience. Miss Muriel Anderson, efdest daughter of Mr. John Anderson,: of Christchurch, is engaged to be married to Lieut. Jack Morris, E.N., elder son of Mr. P. A. Morris, of Pailtdu House, Rugby. ■ ■' ■ Mr. E. W. E. Rathbone, of Auckland, who has been spending.the summer in revisiting Jhngland, left on T.riday on his return to -NewZealand. He travels by South Africa and Australia by the s.s; Jason. The death of Colonel C. J. O'N. Ferguson lias taken place at Weymouth. Colonel Ferguson Served in the New Zealand wars in the 'sixties, and was present at the battle of Ivatikara, 1863, and received the New Zealand medal; , . ■ . ■ Miss A. B. Weir, of Canterbury, who came to England by. the Athenic oil September 22, after spending some time in London and three weeks in Ireland, is, staying in-Bristol for the winter with her brother, Mr. Thos. Weir, of West Africa. '; . ;.Dr. John C. Yeitch, whose object in travelling was to obtain sketches and study the works' of the masters, old and modern, has visited Naples, Rome, Bologna, Venice, and Milan, also Switzerland, Southern Germany, and Paris. He returns to New Zealand shortly: ' Mr.-C. P. Hursthouso, of Nelson, who has been-gaining experience in electrical engineering during the past two and a half years with the British Westinghouse Company in. Manchester, is leaving England on Saturday for Adelaide, where he hopes to gain a footing in the engineering profession. . . -.-. ; Miss Gertie. Madgin,.of "Tilehurst," Stevenage, Hert9,' is leaving for New Zealand in the s.s..Corinthio. She is going out to niarry Mr./L. Freeman, who is settled in Waikanae. ■Most New; Zealanders who have travelled on and Manawatu railway will remember. Mr. Fresman aa manager of the dining car. ■■"■:..- Colonel Richard Davies, Inspector-General of New Zealand Forces, will,.until next June, be attached to the various English General Staffs, also to. the War. Office. .-•-.. Dr. H. B. Morton (Auckland),- who camo to England in .May last with .his son (now taking a law course at Emmanuel College, , Cambridge), has had many pleasant journeys in England, -Normandy, and- Brittany. Ruahino on November 25. . ■ v , , . / Mr. Herbert Allison Wood,- of Invercareill, who.went-to Now Zealand.from • this country two years ago to settle •in the Dominion; is revisiting England, having been recalled bv the death of his father. Mr. Wood arrived at the beginning of. October by the' Tongariro,* and will remain .antil ■ the end of. the rear, returning to New Zealand probably via Suez .There is, we learn, no truth in .the rumour that Lord Eanfurly, who intends selling most of his property in Ireland this month; nurposes making his permanent residence in New Zealand, of which ho was formerly Governor. Lord Riinfurly is not selling his house, grounds, or park-at Dunganubn, but is* giving each, of his, tenants the opportunity to buy his holding, arid paTt of the balance will be offered for sale by auction.
