THE LATE MR. "W. H.. BARNICOAT. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) ■ ■ ■ / '/. i, Wanganui, December 13.. The Into Mr.'W. H. Barnicoat, whose dcat) was reported yesterday, was in his usual healtl at his , office on Saturday. In tho evening however, ho complained ot feeling unwell, and shortly afterwards, apoplexy supervened,, an< ho passed sway early on Sunday morning Deceased, who was 5/ years of age, . was i son of the late Hon. J. W. Barnicoat.. H< was educated at Nelson , College and tho Nov University, was. admitted as a barris ter and solicitor at.the ago of 23, and,' com ing shortly afterwards to Wangaimi, he: en tered into partnership with the late Mr. C H. Borlase. Some timo after the latter'; death, he took Mr. W. J. Treadwoll iht( partnership, their practice being:a very largi one. Mr. Barnicoat was a great student; an< a souud lawyer, but being of a retiring dis position, he never entered public life. ■■.■Fα many years he was Borough. Solicitor, presi dent of the Wanganui Law Society, and choir man of directors of. the "Wanganui Herald' Company. Deceased, who was universally re spected, leaves a widow and tw,o: married daughters. This morning, Mr. Justice Chap man,, at the Supreme Court, referred in feel ing terms to Mr. Bamicoat's death, payini a sympathetic tribute to his integrity, indus try, and ability.
