The- Federal Trcosuror, Sir John Forrest, in a financial stdtemont, intimated that as a result of the ngrcomont (in substitution for the Biaddon Clause) reached between the Commonwealth and the States, also us a result of inoreasos in tho Customs,and Postal revenues, and by saving, he hoped to cut his estimated shortage of £1,200,000 for the year down to .1)300,000. Consequently the Government'did not intend to ask Parliament to issuo Treasury bonds fc) cover the deficit, as proposod in tho Budget, but when the time arrived to meet tho liabilities, the Government would mako temporary arrangements.
