The Eocond-class race attracted the following starters:—AVaircre, scratch; Janet, Cmiii.; Mahina, smin.j White Heather, Gmin.i Viking, 16min.; l'atronus, 120min.; and Nancy Stair, 20min. The Nancy Stair, Patronus, 'and White Heather got the best of tho start, .but Mahina and Wairere had forged ahead by the timo Point Halswell was reached, and theso two showed the way on tho fun to Koro Koro. On Ibe beat homo Wairere took tho lead, and finished first at 0.35 p.m., after a tiresome dnft ucrosu Oriental flay. Mahina finished second at 6.39, and Janet third at GM. Tho otkors wero a long way from home at 7 p.m. Taking time allowance into account, tho Mahina won from Wairere by 2min., Janot taking third place.' Third Class. ' The foll(nring wore the starters and handicaps in tho third-class event-.—lizzie, scratch j Kawono,.'7min.; Nanoya, Oinin.; May, SOniin.; and Karafca, lSmin. , The Lizzie snowed tho way all round the .course, and won comfortably, finishing at 6jS tun. None of the other bouts were within sight of the finishing-post lit 7 p.m. Fourth Class. Only three boats—Warclton scratch, Tuna smin., and Mahaamti 6min, started in the Fourttftlass handicap. With only about three hundred yards to go to finish, the leaders, Warchou and Mahaanui, which wero drifting along length for length, lost tho *rfnd altogether,' ami Tuna, which hugged the land in Oriental Bay, came along with a light brcero, passed the. becalmed' boats, asd carried off the first honours.
