A REMARKABLE PROGRAMME. I Dunedin, December 4, The second series ot night firing was done by the Port Chalmers Navals last night. They fired 108 rounds and obtained ninety hits from thd quick-firing guns. The rate of firing averaged fifteen rounds per minute, and is regarded as a remarkable performance in gunnery. SHOPS AND OFFICES ACT. Timar'u, December 3. At a mooting of the South Canterbury Emi ployers' Association last night, the amended Shops and Offices Aot was diaoussed; and\ the following motion , was passed:—That this association protests strongly against the Government introducing an Aot to override any award of the Arbitration Court, as such action is likely to upset the whole trend of Latour legislation, which has bo far been generally approved of by both employers and employees. ■ ' ' ' Nelson, December 3. Dunedin, December 3. Mr. Will Crooks, M.P., inspected the MosKiel Woollen Factory, which he says is the finest of its kind he has seen during his travels. He was especially pleased with the physique of the operatives and the ventilation of tho workrooms.
