• After having tefused' several colonial professorships, Dr. David Smith, of St. Andrew's Church, Blairgowrie, lias been appointed to tho Chair of /Theology in Mageo College, Londonderry, vacant, by the death of Dr. Potticrcw. As was to ho expected, his victory was overwhelming, 398 votes being recorded in his favour in the General Assembly of the Irish Presbyterian Church, as against 312 to-' tailed by four other candidates. Dr. Smith's book, " The' Days of His, Flesh," has become ono Of tho standard lives of Christ, and ho has a life of St. Paul. Dr. Smith had a brilliant career as a classical student at Glasgow, and at the Divinity Hall also his career,was' exceptional.
