Fitzgerald. >' V- • —~—— FINANCE AND PROPERTY. \ Tho Finance and Property Committee recommeiiiled:,—That Hie council insist upon tho payment by the Wellesley Club of their-water by meter account, .amounting to £18 12s. 3d., snid by them , to be excessive. That the Harbour fioard be informed that the council cannot rovnko their previous decision not to supply jvater to tho conveniences at tho King's Wharf freo of ehnrge, and the bonrd lie requested to improve the condition of. the conveniences at the head of the Queen's AVharf. That, the suggestion of Mr. V. do architect, on behalf of Messrs. Chapman, Skerrett, Wylio and Tripp, that a mutual arrangomcut ho entered into between the council, and Messrs.. Chapman, Skerrett, Wylie and Tripp regarding contiguous light areas for Sections 101, 105, and 106 Lanibton Keclauiation, bo not agreed to. : - . ■-i ' . ' Accounts amounting to jei0,029 lls. 9d. were passed for payment. •The committee reported that they nave approved the action of the City Engineer in purchasing four additional horsos for corporation; works, more particularly in connection with street cleansing arid watering. The adoption of the report was agreed to. ;powee' stations.and tramways. ■ Tho following ..recommendations were tabled by the .Power Stations and 'i'ramways. Committee :--That tho petitioners for a tramway stoppiug-place at Harris Street, on the Jervow Quay route,- be .informed that their request cannot be acceded to. That a concession of half-lares on city lines be granted to the Boy Scouts. That an agreement be entered into .with the Post andl'elegraphDepartment for' ithe carriage of. mails;- telegraph-messengers, and letter-carriers on-.-the tramways within-tho city for the-sum of jK)BS per annum, being an increase of '.£lO per annum on account 'of. the Lyeil Bay extension, and that a,further sum of.'£ls bo charged when the Wadestown lino is, constructed. . • .-'" <; ;

The"committee reported that'they have been waited on/by a deputation from , the Legislation Committee of the Hospital. Board of Trustees, 'with reference .to' the narrow strip of town belt situate between the board's property and Salamanca Road. They asked.that the council .vest tho strip-of land in them as a frontage'.to their,, sections adjacent'thereto.'
