The schools, periods, and nationalities represented-a raDgeirpm tho!sixteenth century Italian of Corregio to the present day, and embrace old and modern Dutch work, Spanish and Flemish work of the seventeenth century, and British work-of all periods. ■;-.-•, British-art. is specially well represented. 80-, ginning .with Sir Joshua -Reynolds (the first president of the' Royal Academy), there/ are ; -works illustrative of the gradual development , Vf British painting, both figure;and landscape, right' up to the prosent time. Turner is re-, 'presentedby'one'of his largest, and most beautiful works,- and there aTp paintings by - Sir ' Thomas Lawrence, -Landseer, .David Cox, Sir Henry Raeburn, William-Etty, Sain Bough, Q.
