; GOOD PEIOES AT NAPIEB. '-..,.'" (By Telesraph.-Spcclal CorrcspondenU '.-.:' - Haplor, November 30. . The second wool sale of tho season was hold to-day, and attracted 'wide- attention, nearly fifty British, Continental, and American buyers boing present, 'i'ho entries' for tho 'salo -were large, but did not constitute a record. It is, however, interesting: to compare them'with the •figures of previous -Bales.. ■ To-day's totai- was : 12,702 bales, i while an aggregate'of 67C0J bales wis offered at the first Bale on November 30, 1908, and 7933J bales, at the'first salo of ■ 1907. An exceedingly large catalogno, believed to be a Hawke'e Bay record, was offered at the second sale, held on January 5, 1909, when tho entries showed the splendid total of-13,698 bales, —an increase of 4628:~0n-the sales of January, .1908. The total for the salo of November 10., 1909, was 3011J bales. ' '•"• ■:" :-■ ' /Speaking to a "Daily Telegraph" reporter this. morning, Mr. W. Hill, one of the visiting buyers,, made some interesting comments,- partly complimentary and ■ partly the roveree. ■ "I've been coming hero for tho last eighteen or. nineteen years," said Mr. Hill,'"and tho wool is in the best condition I have ever seen/it during the whole period. Of course, it is good all over New Zealand, but it does not stand out bo conspicuously as this docs, lais is well groomed and light in condition, but some of it Is badly classed, n-nd consequently the Americans won't touch'it. , '- To what sorts do you refer? asked the reporter. "Tho small lots are badly classed," roplled Mr. Hill. ■-■.-■ --. ; . ■■; .-., .

, The buoyant state of the market was reflected in tho countenances and remarks of those who ,make but rare .visits to town. "I .'expected/ , said one, "to get a little over tenpence, and I nave got twelvepenco halfpenny. It means nearly an extra £200 to mo, and I am going tosell here in future instead of sending to the Homo market." Others were not bo but a. general wave of optimism was clearly discernible. .:; ■■'-~-.-'.

_An idea of the bidding may bo eathercd from the report of tho Bay. Farmers' Co-' operative Association, which is as • follows • "Wo submitted an offering 0f.3072 bales. .Competition -was keen, from the jump, and, we practically cleared our' catalogue at prices which as- compared with-last sales, show, an advanco up to 3d. per lb. for h»lf-breds, up to Id for fine crossbred, up. to 13d. Tor medium crossbred, up to Id. for coarse crossbred, and.Jd. to 3d. for coarse log-stained. Mr. J;.
