: : An'erhibitioE, game of, billiards of 8000 up was', commenced yesterday afternoon between Master' George, Gray, and Mr. Fred; Lindruni, Junr., at Goodwin's' Buildings, Cuba Street.: Lindruni is conceding Gray 500 points, and, judging ,by the opening the contest' should be a; very interesting-one. Lindruni is the professional champion of Australia, and Gray has' lately 'made himself famous by achieving a .break of 836, the red ball being mainly used in compiling.this totals At thelosinghazard; game,/ Master George Gray has proved that., he stands alone. During • the opening session he made several nice breaks, tho best' being 108 and 110,-shots off the red ball being responsible for 102 of the 108., Other breaks were 44, 25, and 23. Gray was slow at. the beginning, his best break for some time being only .'M: During the early part of the game, however, Lindrum scored .-/' consistently,: and gained over ' 20Q ■ points on'his opponent. In breaks of 132 and 122 he gave delightful 1 exhibitions of his skill. He favours the top-of-the-table game, but opens the play/.up frequently, using the middle- and top pockets. . The session dosed with Lindrum in play, with an'unfinished break 1 of 1132, the scores being:—Lindruni, 6QS;~ Gray,', 945.: The players then gave an exhibition of : trick and .fancy shots. Gray,-who is a very fine exponent of the masse shot, played a series of these difficult strokes, which were highly appreciated. Lindrum's shots were also well' received, particularly ah all-round cannon with all the balls in motion. ■An evening- session of the match was re-sumed,-with: Lindruiri, in play, two were added to his unfinished.break of 132, and he than broke downoii a difficult shot. Play now brightened np considerably, big breaks coming consistently from both players. ' The principal breaks were:—Lihdrum, 169,: 110, 38, 27, 17, 53 75, and 64.
