Mr. Kelly that'",the decision of the Marlborqugh Rugby ttaion to. suspend', a player for a period of six months,'- for misconduct on the field of. play, be endorsed. ". .!,' In.' moving, as an amendment, that the player in question be suspended for .two years, Mr. Meredith contended, as a. matter of .principle, that'' there"could'be' no-quostion'of mitigating circumstances in tho casn of a player offending against a referee. The- original motion and a further amendment , by. It-whs - resolved that the players be expelled-from the,union. : A letter, was received'from' the New South Wales' Rugby Union' intimating that -twentyfour members :had- been expelled; from, the union as the result, of certain charges of professionalism, while two others had been disqualified for' life for- playing while under-sen-tence "of. suspension. ..
