MILITARY TOURNAMENT.
'. 700 ENTRIES. , : His Excellency the Governor and suite will 1 ha present on the opening day of the Palmetston' N. Military Tournament, , whioh is to be held on Monday and Tuesday next, November 8 . and 9, and a very large, attendance of - the . publio is assured. ■ . . The total corps to be represented,will: be GO, t while the entries, exclusive of cadets, aggregate t 700. The tournament this year is larger and more important than during any previous time in its History,' and the Railway Department have found it necessary to arrange for addi- ; tional special trains from Auckland and "Wei•lington. The majority : of-the competitors, in- - eluding both 13 and D Batteries, Permanent • Force, Engineers, and/many \iniantry corps, will arrive to-day, and the remainder on Moaday morning. The number taking part in the musical' ride has also. been increased. v The display-will bo more brilliant, and attractive than previously, tho- lighting of the i Showgrounds calling for special'mention. The a Government 1 dvnamo . ana searchlight from J Shelley Bay wil be worked by, tho electric-light section' of the No. 3 Company, G.A.V., under Captain A. G. Hume. ; ' ' • To-morrow a church parade, in which visiting corps will take part, is to be held.
