HOCKEY.
Tho London correspondent of the " New Zealand Herald" says:—Mr. E. Nordon, president of tho New Zealand Hockey Association, who has beeli in' touch with" the English Association, has interviewed the; executive • here with regard' to the proposal that an English team should be persuaded to visit New Zealand. As a result of'the interview it appears "chat" there is a veiy remote chance of a team going out. The, English Association' has. inot a very large hank account,- and it is not the policy of the eiecntivo to amass .funds for the purpose of financing touring teams. They hold very strong views- on the question of. amateurism, and would not care to do anything that might have the semblance of: professionalism. The matter will, however;:be considered, and if a sufficient number, of enthusiasts can be found who will worthily , represent English hockey and at the same time :paj; their own fares to the Dominion,'the trip will be made, it being left to the Zealand. Association to finance them through the Dominion. During a visit to Bath, on which-he leaves immediately, Mr. Nordon will further discuss the project with Mr. Basil Hatch, secretary, of the Western Counties Hockey Association.
