. . ffly.Telegraph.—Prut Asabclallon'.l .. ChrlJtcliurch, October 29.' At tho ■• Presbyterian General - Assembly today, nominations lor the.position of Moderatoi for 1910 were. called for.' The names sent forward from tho various presbyteries were:— Tha Hers. J. H. Mackenzie (Nelson), P. B; Frasei (Uunedin), W. Gray Dixon. (Auckland); W. Macara/(Kaikoura), and A. Camoron (Dun-: edin). The Rov. V. B. Fraeer moved that the Rev. J. H. Mackenzie (Nelson) be nominated by .the Assembly. Ho eulogised Mr. Mackenzie for the sorvices ho had rendered to tho Church. .His merits were well known to members of the Church. Last year he received a vote'whioh almost put him in the chair. On that occasion the motion was seconded by. the Rev. Mr. Macara (ICaikoura), and supported by the Revs. J; Patterson,: Elliott, and Munro. The '.last-nwn-.tiohed said that the Auckland Presbytery had unanimously resolved .to support the Rev. GraJ Dixon, who, however; had decided to withdraw in favour of .Mr. Mackenzie. Tho nomination was unanimously agreed to, The Rov. W. J. Comrie presented the treasurer's statement, which stated that th.B income for' the year was again satisfactory. • Congre-gational-contributions amounted to .£10,183 Bs. 10d., an increase of .£350 compared with the previous year. The accumulated funds of the Church amounted to .£113,231 Bs.-ld. .The report dealt in. some detail with the position of various accounts, and was adopted. .:. The position of tho Auckland Orphanage; known as the, Leslie Trust .Orphanage,-was briefly discussed,' reforenco being made to the Rev. Mr. Rybnrn's statement that the orphan. age was not, under the Assembly. The Rev. Mr.' Munro pointed out that the Assembly had appointed four of its members to : bo trustees. Seven of the trustees were Presbyterians, and two wore Anglicans. It was probable that ultimately all tho trustees would be Presbyterians/ •There was no provision for the appointment of ' trustees of airy, particular denomination; Chll< dren coming into the orphanago were, under the termsof tho trust, to be brought un in the Presbyterian faith.. '~.-■ - - Auokland Presbytery invited the Assembly to hold its next meeting in Auckland. The invitation: was heartily'supported by the Rer Mr. Munro, and accepted with thanks.
