. GRUBBERS FOR NOXIOUS WEEDS MEN. ! Though tHo, lato retrenchment in the Agricultural Department 'may bo said to have chastised the cashiered officials with whips, .thoso who were . honoured by being ' retained •seem likely to be chastised with "scorpions."' ■The ; Minister's hand has fallen heavily upon those uuhoppy individuals—the, noxious, weeds inspectors. Henceforth .they are to "grub for thoir 'grnb." , In a circular issued by tho head of their division their attention is directed to 'an • instruction ; from the Minister calling upon them to take notice of any isolated noxious weeds growing by the wayside in their travels, and eradicate thom. .The vision of a weary-' eyed individual tramping along tlio byways of the back-blocks carrying on his shoulder a wellgrubber wherewith to win. the Ministerial favijur,'if Such can be won at all, will become a permanent part of the landscape, as it'were; With some; farmers tho noxious weeds. inspectors'.are most'unpopular—at least such is the common- belief—and this latest inspiration of 'the; Ministerwill no . doubt meet, their entire approval.
