THE POLICE COMMISSION.
Sir,—The.Police Commission has ended, and like most others, ended a great farce. The only ones-that benefit are thoso who draw a good screw and a trip'through the country, and a few policemen aired a few grievances. Ihere was nothing brought forward regarding lack or duty- of men stationed in out-districts for- long periods;', that they'become actually useless; nor anything regarding'gambling in .licensed houses,',such as hotels and billiard rooms,-and even railway carriagcs,"ahd oftimes under the .nose of-guardians of the/law. Such a force can never be efficient unless'kept up to their .work, and that is not'easily-.'done when out, of. the 'reach; of-.any supervisor. ■■' ■ Therefore the-.more need of. shifting the'm.roun'datstated periods. -/As-my.'business is travelling- around,, I. notice'tliodaok of.,duty in many small country, villages. I —l. am';'etc.,' : , >'•,''•-> ■•■>:,'■ V,--:':?' - TRAVELLER.
