MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
The Missions to Seamon Institute was i ; crowded last evening, when 'Mrs. Rathbone i 1 provided a most successful concert, Mr. James 1 ■ Moore, the-Missioner, occupied tho chair. The 1 ■ following contributed items:—Pianoforte solo, i • Mrs. ' Burleigh; duet, Mrs. Warburton, and 1 ■ Miss Ratbbone; song, Mr. Johnson; song, Sir. i : Carr; recitation, Miss Kirk; song, Mrs. War- I 1 burton ; rccitation,'Miss Didsbnry; song, Miss i ;■ lCobble; song, Miss Kathbono. Misses "War- i ■ burton and Johnson played tho accompani- ' | ments. Several, popular ..choruses wero, sung ! by the audience, and an amusing conundrum i 1 competitionjwas' won by sailors ' from ships in port. During tho evening, Captain Skinner ■ presented a large portrait of tho lato Mr. i Samuel I'limsoll-.to tho Mission,- and'a photo of tho late Mrs. Martin (New Zealand's Graco ' Darling), kindly donated by Mrs. Gardiner, | was presented by a lad from tho training ship t Amokura; .in: the absence of ; tho ! donor. Mrs. ■ M. A. Williams accepted the presentations on ■ bohalf .of tho'-Missions to Seamen, amidst .loud ' cheering:-')-Mr.' Mooro' spoke in reference' to ' the good dono for seamen by the lato Mr. ■ Plimsoll, and the '• bravery displayed by. Mrs.- > Martin in saving tho crew of the Delaware i in 1863. Ho also- Hcliver«l-'a, short' address on i temperance, resulting in eleven men taking tho , pledge. Hearty, -cheers wero 'given tho per- . formers, and light refreshments wore dispensed. i ' i
