(From Our Boeclal IteDurler.l ■ PETONE MAGISTRATE'S COURT. A sitting of. tho Petone -Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, before.Dr. A. 11' Arthur, S.M., and Mr.. W. Inglis, J.P. ■ for entering licensed premises during' the currency of a prohibition order, Jas. Ashby was convicted and discharged. Chas. Nelson (Mr. Wilson), charged with procuring liquor for a prohibited person, was also convicted and ■ discharged. . : . For allowing cattle to wander, John M'ltillan, Frank Jloreland (Mr. Wilson), and Harry Hounslow were each fined ss. and 9s. costs. Mr, Kirk.appeared 'fpr the Petonc Council. » sturdy, middle-aged man, named Alfred MiUward, was prosecuted by Walter Alfred JJowater on throe using obscene language in a public place; (2) assaulting Lydia Bowater; and (3)' assaulting Walter bowater. In connection with the last two charges,- informant-asked that defendant be bound over to keep the peace.- Mr. Cracroft Wilson appeared for complainant, and j>. W. Jackson for defendant. After tho evidence for complainant had'been heard,- the case was adjourned to October 25. Two small boys, who had come to blows, were called, and each charged the , other with assault. " His Worship decided that the case involved only a child s quarrel and dismissed the information. In civil jurisdiction, judgment for plaintifl was given in the followiug undefended cases :- Ada Higgin6on v. Edward Wnldon, £t ss. Gd, costs 55.; Edmond Mills v. Hugh Jlullaney, £1 155., costs ss. ■ ■ . •. In tho judgment summons case of S. E. Carter v.. Edmund Geo. Pointon,- a debt of .£ll las. 9d., debtor failed to put in an appearance, and was ordered to pay £9 las.- 9d., balance of the qebt, on-or before November 1, in default seven days imprisonment. No order was mado m the case of A. W. Boden and. Co. v. Harold Lockwodd, a debt of M:

The efficacy of Iwandy as a cure for cramp was discussed in humorous fashion at the Petone Magistrate's Court yesterday. A prohibited person charged with entering licensed premises explained: '.1 was coming home in the tram, your Worship, after working all day .in tne.water, and I had an attack of the cramp. ;~ —noticed that;l was bad; he didn't know ■I was a 'probationer,'-so heboid 'me to take a drop of brandy."
