CUTTING THE' EDUCATIONAL PAINTER. (By" Telcgraph.-BpcclaV Correspondent.) Palmerjtoh,. October 15. At a meeting of the .Council of'tho Palmer6ton Chamber, of Commerce last night Mr, J.A. Nash brought up the important question of educational boundaries. He stated that he had nothing whatever to urger against the work done by the Wanganui Education Board, but population had increased at such a rate, and schools had 6prung up in so many; districts, that he thought the timo had arrived when they should nave a separate education dis; trict. Palmerston was a very convenient centre, and all tho (schools on the southern sideof the. present district would be .only too pleased to havo a now district. Tho matter, had- been discussed previously,.and a resolution carried requesting the Minister for Education to sot up n commission to consider boundaries, but nothing had been done. Ha, suggested that they should now pass a resolution asking the Minister to - receive a deputation on tho question, Mr. H. Haydon, in. seconding the motion, expressed the opinion that it would be better first of all to ascertain the feeling of_ the school committees on. tho question, and, if possible, secure their co-opera-tion. The chairman said that the severance from Wanganui: was bound to come sooner or later. He thought that a deputation to tho Minister would be the best course, and' it was finally decided' to ask two delegates from the two '.own schools and the high sclwol. to meet the chamber to discuss the matH. it being left to the president to fix r. da'&.i The matter of entertaining tho delegates who have been attending the conference of Chambers of Commerce in Sydney ocoupied the attention of the Palmerston chamber Jor a considerahle time last night. The present programme is that the delegates will arrive in Palmerston from Wellington on Tuesday next by the New Plymouth express.
