The Spanish Anarchist Ferrer, charged w'th being .the unseen.director of the July riots in Barcelona, has been sentenced by the courtmartial to death. . The sentence'ha9 been submitted to Madrid for confirmation. The Spanish Cabinet in unablo to recommend u pardon. Tell thousand workmen in Rome, and five thousand. Socialists in l'arls demonstrated against tho pending execution of Ferrer. A petition of English pressmen and others in favour of the prisoner has boon telegraphed to King Alfonso. Ferrer's daughter, who is in Paris, interviewed the . French' Premier, M. Briand, who telegraphed to King Alfonso . pleading for clemency. The 'Tribuna" (Kome)' states that the Pope is urging King Alfonso to revoke the sentence.
