Y.M.C.A.: A STRENGTH TEST.

A strength test was. sot members of. the T.M.C.A. gymnasium last week, the test being such as used in the Harvard and Yalo Universitiee to decide the college strong man. It was formulated by Pγ. Dudley L. Sargent (director of physical education.-at Harvard University),, and consists of six pierciscs, each exercise lasting five minutes. First tho height and weight or the competitor and the length of arm are recorded. Then ho' proceeds with the exercises, and the results are ganged by multiplying the amount of weight and height lifted by the number of times. This product divided by twelve gives the foot-pounds of work accomplished. The records of the first three men at last week's test were as follow r-<J. Bailey, 362, 426 foot-pounds i , R.
