Cohen, Ballinger,. Frost,' Trevor, Atkinson, Fitzgerald, Carmicha'el, Hindmarsh, M'Laren, Shirtcliffe, Fletcher, and Morrah. '■~'• FINANCE;ANii PROPERTY. '.-. The Finance and Property Committee recommended:—That the councir apply for tho ; exemption of M'lntyrej Street, Vpgoltown, ■ from tho' provisions of Section 117 of the. Public Works Act, subject to'the 35-fect huilding clause, and that a cupboard and other small requisites be placed in the morgue, at an estimated cost oi MS,- for the convenience of the pathologist. Accounts amounting to iflS97 16s. '10d; .were passed for payment. 1 The adoption of-, the report was agreed to. •'POWER STATIONS AND' TRAMWAYS. The .Tramways and Power,' Stations Commit-' tep.'recomiuended:—That the council deny lia-' bility in'respect of a claim for compensation for' injuries alleged to have been sustained by a man alighting from a tramcar on September IS. That the application' of the Wonderland Poinpany. for reduced fares on the Kilbirnie route on Labour Day be not granted. The report was-adopted. ; Consideration 1 of. certain concessions' asked ferby the Miramar Borough Council were deferred, until next meeting. '. . ','.■■'..','' .:'■'.'-.- BATHS,AND "RESERVES.-' "' '■'•'■ The';Bathsahd v Reserves Committee recom-mended-.—That the application of the Wellington Hockey Association for a renewal of their permit to play on Kelbume Park and Duppa Street reserve for the season 1910 be held over until a later period. That the request that the council, establish' a tea kiosk at Newtown Park be "considered when the next year's estimates arc being dealt with. That the'application of th-i Victoria College Amateur Athletic Club for, permission to hold,their annual sports meeting on- the, Basin. Rcservo on Saturday, March 11, be'not granted, but that they bo informed that they will'be allowed permission on any other days than Wednesdays and Saturdays. The adoption of the .report was agreed to.,'' .. ;The :committce- also reported that they, ■ had received a deputation from the' Wellington Rugby Football Union v at their last "meeting, who asked that-the; committee' would allocate th-'- playing grounds next season pro rata, ,acc'ordingto the number of players iri'each : association or union. The deputation were - formed! that .the ■ whole of tho -sports....boaies would bo •■'equitably dealt with, when the grounds 'were being allocated.. The committee ha.-, granted the St. Patrick's College- Cadet Corps permission to drill on the Basin' Reserve on Tuesday and Friday mornings, between 11.30 o'clock'and-'noon. The report,was adopted.
FIRE'BRIGADE AND STREET LIGHTINGi The; By-laws, Fire Brigade, and Street; Lighting. Committee; recommended that Victoria Terrace; Brooklyn, be included in the suburban eltotric-.lighting'.scheme;'-, that an expressman fined for playing -two-up : on an-express stand be placed on probation and under, strict, supervision,, and informed- that if, he commits another breach of.-tho 1 law-his; license ywould be cancelled. The committee,reported that' they, had., received. from'; the Christchurch' Fire Board a • letter • suggesting; a, joint .fire brigade employees' -superannuation fund for the four chief centres,!but the committee recommended that- provision should be mad-.' :br the,local fire brigade staff: in the General'iocal.
