Oh'the footwall branch of the 1 dropper, very little has been done, as. the men have , been engaged in timbering work. -No, 5 levels The No. 5. rise on tho' main reef is up. a distance of «58ft. The i reef is not. quite so puggy/.and a - little. more quartz is now coming in.. Cure reef: The fourth I stope has, been carried to the end of ground; and a fifth stope has.now v been started west ! from the ■ rise. Stoping on the dropper above : this level is also in progress. No. 4 level: The !.leading stope. on tho hangingwall leader has I been carried cast of the crosscut for a distance ! x of 161 ft. We are now past tho point, where tho Kold was \obtr,ined in drlying, and we have a further 15ft; yet to carry this 9topo east to the rise. The deader is very irregular, and varies a good deal in width. .The work of putting in the main timbers is being pushed on as quickly as possible, but it will be some time, after the leading stope is out before' a second stope • can ( be carried along. Cleaning up for the month will take place. tO;day.',

Silver Hill.—The manager is trying to pick up another reef that, is still' ahead, which. is shedding some pood quartz; but thero is a very heavy.. surface . hero, and it is hard to get through:. However,-.the-quartz is.getting; nearer the-bottom. Ho thinks that the feef-.iß 'close' at' hand.. . . , Tararu. Mines.-r-Durins the past -week tho changing house has been completed; and the smithy-is also finished. -'A; start has.been made to , clean out and'lay the tramline , at tie bottom of No. .4, level. This work will be pushed ahead as rapidly as possible. Scddon —A track has' been formed from' tho mine .to the Wftforongomai tramline. A - drive is now being put' iu to intersect tho roof a little .lower down ; tho hill, from where'good stone was.got in the:outcrop.. The reef should bo cut in about a fortnight's time. Glamorgan.—The hangingwail of .the Silver King reef is 2ft.. 6in. wide, with'a bine sulphide •band still in evidence. This drive is going straight for the old Herald works, where rich assays were obtained many years, ago.; There are 800 to ICOO feet separating both .works, .and, absolutely unprospected, the possibilities are that- something above tfte ordinary will be unearthediin thiß direction ' Bendigo.—The drive north oh the Silver King reef has opened .out about a foot thicker, and is showing two clean walls. The' ore is not quite so bard. Pride of tho low laveltbe footwall lode has been driven bn a further-sft. A firm class of mineralised country is making right across the face, and tho quartz looks well, the lode being 6in. in-width, but 60 far not payable. At the intermediate level , a tram line has been laid in, and work'resumed-testing the footwall lode-through the.bneak. Good progress'la being mado in tho stopes on the cross lodo. the country being of a flrstrctoss natnre. both for gold and speedy , work. In breaking down at this point strong blotches of gold were seen in somo of tho ore. ■■ . .Reliance—The. country in tho crosscut is a littlo-better for boring, and the manager hopes there will be a change of country. This must tako place before the ,reef. is picked up, which should be met with any day now., Mt. Welcomc.—The low level is in 90ft., and the country is now of a better class. . The stone on the footwall lode is now about 20ft. east of the winze. A . fine mineral -.flathead has. been followed about 15ft., but owing to a mulloeky -formation, does not strike into the lode. The water is still troublesome in tho winze. .New Sylvia-Operations in.the north end of the low level have been continued. Tho reef 'is Bft. in width, and composed of valuable ore. In carrying this north face: forward the last 10ft. very, little -sinking has been dohe,l but a flno body of ore shows underfoot, and the last quartz broken shows gold: : One hundred, tons of general oro.havo been;shipped to Sydney for. treatment: : Kuranui.-lii • the -Shellback No.' 1 north tho reef > has v-now taken its true course, ■ and is about.9in: wide. Small stringers are cut at intervals. In No. 2 north there has been a great improvement. A fine body of quartz was cut on Saturday ..morning coming in 011 the footwall side. .The ribs.. of .quartz previously; wbrked sfcom to have, functioned at a cross, and changed both the. dip and 6tvike of tho leader Th 6 ground now is also, of. a firmer nature, and" tho manager believes that tho men now are almost .through the break. Four feet has been added to tho Blyth drive, the leader being amall at the back, but retain/as its - aits .underfoot. Kloo minerals are showing, but no gold. Tho cioiscnt
