South Wales)' respoctivelyr-is described as follows:— In the contestHichardson and Wenand, Eichardson, using his left hook to'body and hiad,' mado things very willing in tho first ,couple of rounds,- Wenand relying' on ' his right, Tho Tasmanian's condition "petered out" in'tho later rounds, and Wonan'd, who w«af etill strong and willing,' won tho verdict -by a'narrow margin-.. .'V; ' , Tho Fitzslmmons-Hcgarty fight; was strenuous, both giving- and taking a lot of punish•ment, Ilegarty however, l having always a margin;, in ' his favour. Early in the. fourth round Hogarty: landed- right in thofaco of Fitzsimmons. Tho latter,' dazed,- was forced across the ring, and thin Hegarty,'.'swinging both hands to his head, knocked'him down and out. ' -The Amateur Boxing Conference decided that tho 1910 championship meeting .should be held in New Zealand. The welter weight was altered from' lOst. 81b. to lOst.'9lb. -,"■■"
