Dr. Alexander Groves Buff, .in his 70th year. Hβ was "it son of Dr.: Alexander, Duff, D.D., LL.D. The late Dr. Duff, who recently catno to Pelmerston, from Nelson, where he had resided some thirty years; leaves a''widow and four children—Mr. A. M.'Duffy Nelson; Mr J. A. C. Duff,, Sydney; Mrs. W..H. Itodwood, FoiLdinfi; and Miss to, Duff, Palmerston, The deceased ffentlcman was born in Calcutta, and ho was''one of .the few who escaped from the first massacre 'at Meorut on May 10, 1857. ■ Ho served through the Sepoy War, and during tho wholo of the war ho was not off duty a:• single day. Ho was attached to;tho COth Eoyal Rifles and the 75th Foot, and was mth the force under Brigadier. Wilson on its march totrarde Delhi. Hβ; went through whole of the operations against Delhi, from' its'investment on Juno 20 to its final capture on Soptomber 14. He was twice slightly wounded, and received a medal aid clasp.
