Councillors Smith, Gnrnett, and Hart, and Mr.: G. V. ;lioach waited on. Mr. Eonayho -to- difciiss, the- question' of .opening the' new railway crossing at. Eastbourne. Street. The Mayor stated -.that ■'the : : ' traffic , was "congested through i.-there boing no crossing at Eastbourne Street. Mr. Ronayno.Baid the matter, would' be. considered when the Department shifted the , station. The Mayor: .also suggested - the • cutting off of tho cornors,? at Railway and Heretaunga .Streots,.., and.,'the Railway : Hoad ■ intersection. Mr. Eonayno said this would also be considored, and.-if it was possiblo to meet the wishes of residents he would 'do ' so. .Attention ■ was--.'nlsa' drawn to the. fact that when the station ■ was . shifted Avenue Eoad crossing' would bo blocked, and people , would have to .'go a' long • way round Mr. Uonnyne .said. ho. was .glad the matter had been brought up, , and ho would consider it when the plnns.'fpr ,tho,.nevy station were completed; Mr. Eonayno and ph'rtv afterwards left by. special train .for the .south. .
