The chairman,- in explaining, thoi objoct-of the conference, 6aid that it' was'found thot before the Lansdowne works could "bo'completed; a' sum of approximately,.Csoo would require to be. provided; and the question to be discussed was how was this to be done. 'It'had been suggested that possibly tho surplus from the Opaki'portionl of the,eohemo might bo,utilised for the completion of the high pressure supply. ■„ After disbussion, it was resolved that,' if. the council is satisfied that the'surplus from ■the-'Opaki water; scheme could g be legally used to make up the deficiency required to complete Lansdowne works, this should bo aonej othenries the conference. suggests that tho amount.re-' quired to' complete the Lansdowne- ■ scheme, should be provided by the council,arid tho. repayment' of it spread'over a period of ten years,; recouping year'' by year but of' 'the maintenance rate. It was also. decided, that steps should.be taken to appoint a management* committee' for the works! and that Messrs. V,. Donald, W. H. Cruickshank, W. J. Hirschberg, A.H. Wrightson, and A.. Buick should be' .nominated for tho position.
