'■'.'. •', ' /. ■;.;Tho-Chancellor of tho Exchequer, Mr. Lloyd-Gfcorge, admitted timttho assessment under Schedule A pressed unfairly upon the hotter, class of landlords, though ho was.undblo ,to .assess landlords under Schedule D. He announced that a landlord, providing ho had actually spoilt tho money on his estates, would be allowed to claim for refund up to 25 per'cent, of the gross income upon.which he was;assessed. Hitherto owners.have been.allowed Id deduct from the.gross rovenuo onesixth in. respect of; houses and one-eighth in respect of farms on account of repairs and maintenance. This continues, but an owner epondiHß more is entitled to a further refund. llr.
