SUPREME COURT SESSIONS.
(By Telegraph.—Press. Association.)' ... Gisbornß, September 20. The criminal.sessions,of the Supreme Court were opened'here.this'morning. '„.'■ '" Mr. Justice Cooper, in charging the Grand Jury,, commented-on tho diminution of crime,as shown by .the small number -of icases for trial at-Palnierston, Napier, and■-. Gisborne.' There.were only two serious cases in the present of infanticide and concealment, of birth, and of criminal assault against a coloured man. True bills were found in all the cases. The Grand Jury made a presentment as to the inadequacy of court accommodation, and also expressing a hope that the Courts would treat with severity offences against women and children. His Honour said that the jury could rest assured'.that the Court would continue to act as it had been doing, as a,result of .which the number, of cases of this class of crime had diminished..-. Rose Keruori was 'charged with, causing the. death of her infant child, and, after a-lengthy hearing, was,found not guilty. : t She is now being tried on a 'charge of concealment of birth. , - .;• ■ '.':''.-V ■."..■'
