tAuckland,'September 13, At tho Polio©.Court to-day v Arnola Hare was charged with having eont letters to T. E. Clark containing threats, with'; intent to extort mqney. According to the evidence, a letter was-written by'R. 0. Clark, who is now out of the Dominion, to his brother, T.-E. Ckrk. , factory manager, of R. 0. Clark, Ltd., and this letter, would, according to. witnesses, havo dono harm v to the Clark k family and injured the cheditof the company if published. At a meeting of.' tho Hawke's Bay Educa. tion Board to-aay, the chairman (Sir 'William Russell) moved' in tho direction of confining tho boartfs - junior scholarships to publio school children,, leaving the board's: '' scholarships open to; all' children. Ho ooritended that his probosal was in acoordanco with* the Statute. Other members of tho board. opposed the propoisal, pointing out that it would be a hardship to the high schools, a large proportion of whoso pupils woro drawn, from the board schools.
