'There is strong agitation in Noumca ( capital of New Caledonia, against tho action of tho Fronch Home Government in stopping public works already undertaken , ( At a mass meeting of citizens it waß decidod, after somo fiery speeches, to request tho Governor to use his influence with the French Government to quell tho discontent, which, if allowed to grow, might reach serious proportions. The Governor has'sent a cable message to Paris, and is awaiting a reply.
