The annual report of tho Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association; states that tho balance : of: assets over liabditics is now £531 18s. lid., and the profits on the year's transactions,'after writing down the surplus oopios/of volume XI from actual cost price .of 17s. 9d..t0 ss. each, is £58 16s. 3d. Publication of; volume XI has 'been completed, and is in the_ hands 1 of .members, and contains the registration of 168 bulls and 826 cows and heifers. Members will doubtless .be pleased ■ to learn that the . .. Hereford cattlo (says tho report) aro still making headway in I\ew Zealand, as in all other parts of tho world, their.: splendid constitutions _ and general freedom from' disease' rendering them particularly suitable for.';, crossing purposes where early .maturity, and profit', are . tno primary, objects'aimed at. Tho .president and vice-presidents (Messrs. J. M'Grogor and F. W. Arbon) and two members of the council (Messrs. G. 'M... Currie and . A.. J. Toxward) retiro by rotation, but are eligible for re-election.
