' WELLIN6TON BAST DISTRICT,, Members, and■ supporters .of the Wellington East Crioket Club' met last', evening' in the Victoria Hall, Newtown. Mr, J. P. Firth presided. : It was reported that tho clnb had been promised hearty support, and the prospects for the inaugural season were favourable. Blue and white'were decided upon as the club colours. Subscriptions were fixed as follows:—Under 18 years; 155.; over, 305.; honorary, members, 55.; honorary and practice members, 15s. ; . The following' officers ( were elected:—President, Mr., J. P. I RED CROSS CLUB. The fifth annual: meeting; of 'the Red Cross (Wednesday) Cricket Club was held at; Newtown last evening. Mr. VV. H. Didsbury (vioeprcsident) was in the chair. ■ ' , . The management cbnlinittee, in their annual report, stated that the record of matches won-last season: was better, than, iii previons. years, but,; said the committee, it was only due to faulty fieldifte oiid "stage fright" when facing tho bowlers that .the'team. had not won the whole of the matches. Seven matches had been played, five were won, and two brought defeat. - The -committee desired to thank Drs. Ewart, James, Harty, Faulke, ~and Simpson, and ,Mri Didsbury for the practical interest ill'the-;club. , The trophy for the best batting averdge was won: by v Dr.. Brown (36.2 runs per I innings),- Mr. Elriek being second, with '21.2 mTia. .The.; Iwst; bowling average was obtained by ; Mr; C. Greig (7.09 riihs per wicket), Dr.' Brown coining second.' Dr; -Brown had generously handed: back his trophy to Jhe- club.
